I'd fallen behind on email filing. Not because I didn't want to file — I knew that filing as I went would save me hours each week and let me find anything later in seconds. The intent was there. The reality was a 12,000-message inbox and the guilt of an abandoned system.
The problem wasn't that I couldn't decide where each email should go. I usually knew. The problem was the cost of each filing action: open the folder tree, find the right place, drag the email. Twenty seconds per email. Multiplied across the hundreds I received each week, it added up to more time than I had.
I built HyperFiler to close that gap. Not to file emails for me, but to make filing them dramatically less work. The same way a washing machine doesn't wash your clothes for you, or a hoover doesn't clean the floors by itself. You still load the machine. You still push the hoover. But the hardest, most repetitive part of the work is taken out of your hands.
HyperFiler remembers where each sender's emails go. When a new email arrives, it suggests the folder. One click confirms. Twenty seconds becomes one second. The decision is still yours; the friction is gone.
It's a labour-saving device for email filing. It still needs you. It just needs much less of you.
HyperFiler is built by Michael Jones at Hyper Holdings Ltd. Michael is also the founder of Cell Guidance Systems, a life sciences company in Cambridge, where he ran into the email-filing problem the hard way: thousands of customer emails, supplier exchanges, regulatory paperwork, and not enough hours to file them by hand.
The tool that worked for him became HyperFiler. It now serves users beyond just one company, with a deliberately small product surface and the same engineering standards he applies to everything else.
HyperFiler is an Office.js add-in. It runs inside Outlook on Windows, Mac, and the web, using the standard Microsoft Graph APIs to read and move email. To work reliably on locked-down corporate tenants where many add-ins fail, HyperFiler proxies its Graph calls through a Cloudflare Worker. Your email data passes through that Worker in transit but is not persisted or read by us.
Your filing history (which sender goes to which folder) is stored in your browser's local storage, on your device. It doesn't sit on our servers.
HyperFiler is a side-project that we expect to grow steadily. We're funded by paying customers, not by venture capital, and the product roadmap is driven by what our users actually need rather than growth-at-all-costs incentives.
